It's getting harder and harder to keep track of what's going on in the Middle East these days. Life-long dictators are falling, new regimes are being ushered in--who knows what will happen next. For some Americans, unfortunately, the question really is, “who cares?”
Islamic extremists were grateful for our slumber prior to 9/11, and now that America's economic woes have lulled us back to sleep, they are equally gleeful. These extremist not only appreciate our continued narcolepsy, they are counting on it. It is what will ultimately allow them, and other terrorist organizations, to have what they have always desired in the Middle East and around the world; an Islamic Caliphate.
An Islamic Caliphate is a world dominated by Muslims and, ultimately, the Islamic law known as Sharia. Sharia law currently guides all aspects of Muslim life including daily routines, familial and religious obligations, and financial dealings. It is taught primarily from the Quran and Sunna--the sayings, practices, and teachings of the Prophet Mohammed.
To many readers, this may sound like conspiratorial jibber jab; maybe even crazy enough to dismiss this whole thing. But then again, that is also what the Islamic extremists are relying on--not only ignorance, but also our complete dismissal of the facts. The more stealth their operation looks, the quicker and easier it will be for them to accomplish their goals.
Today, there are about 1.3 billion Muslims in the world, making it the second largest religion after Christianity. The number of Muslims who identify with an Islamic Caliphate ranges somewhere between 13 and 130 million, depending on the source.
Looking at a map, we can see that a Middle East Islamic Caliphate is just a few countries away from being completed. The number of countries which do not recognize Sharia law, as the ultimate authority, is quickly diminishing. Even those who had Dual Law (secularism and Sharia) are succumbing to Sharia. Egypt is believed to be heading towards Sharia (since the removal of Mubarak). Libya has already named Sharia as the law of the land in their draft constitution (since the removal of Gaddafi). Both Turkey and Syria are up in the air, but many believe they are leaning towards Islamism. Additionally, in Pakistan they are dealing an increasing number of deadly terrorist attacks, as the demand for Sharia Law has become more popular and has already been instituted in parts of the country.
There is only one country standing in the way of a true Middle East Islamic Caliphate. Ironically, this is the same country that many Muslims will not recognize as a legitimate state; the one they pray will be destroyed and in which they continually strategize to make its demise a reality. That sole country is, of course, Israel-- and it is being squeezed hard.
Faster Than an Adulterer's Stoning
Today, many countries in Europe are learning, a little too late, what tolerance-gone-unchecked can lead to. London has now been called “Londonistan” in the media. Under the banner of tolerance, the British Government has allowed many Islamic groups’ ideology into the London legal system, and now Sharia Law has infiltrated the Courts.
In France, Islamic mosques are being built more often than Roman Catholic churches. There are now more practicing Muslims in the country of France than practicing Catholics. In order to meet growing demand, the number of mosques is projected to grow to 4,000. Coincidentally, the Roman Catholics have lost forty churches over the past ten years and many have been turned into mosques.
A few days ago France banned Muslims from praying in the streets. Every Friday thousands of Muslims closed off streets to accommodate overflowing crowds for midday prayers. This would lead to stopped traffic and businesses having to close. Some mosques have also begun broadcasting sermons and chants of "Allah Akbar" (God is the greatest), via loudspeakers in the streets. These were the last words yelled by Islamic terrorists, including the 9/11 hijackers before the planes hit the World Trade Center and the Fort Hood shooter.
Spain is also having to deal with problems of an Islamic takeover. A town near Barcelona, where Muslim immigrants now make up 40% of the population, has approved a one-year ban on the construction of new mosques. It is the first ban of its kind in Spain, due to public outrage over plans to build a massive Salafi mosque (financed by Saudi Arabia). Salafism is a branch of revivalist Islam where radical imams preach for an Islamic Caliphate across the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Europe, including Spain. Many other European countires have become vicitims of a similar emergance of radical Islam, including Greece, Italy, and Denmark.
If you think this is just a European phenomenon, think again. Dearborn, Michigan, otherwise named Dearbornistan, is where many believe the first enclave of Sharia Law is being instituted here in the United States. Once again, this unchecked level of tolerance and political correctness has eradicated Christianity from many parts of this town and replaced it with Islamasism.
A powerful Muslim leader, once said, "Thanks to your democratic laws, we will invade you. Thanks to your religious laws, we will dominate you." It is becoming clear that those words were not said in jest.
Caliphate or Death
For those who believe this is all hogwash or paranoia, one needs only to look at the terror attacks that took place on Sept. 11, 2001. The planes got hijacked, crashed into the towers, the towers collapsed, the Pentagon was set ablaze, another plane was downed in Pennsylvania, and the dead were counted. All that and not one demand or request was made by the terrorists. All of us here in America were left with the same question; “why”?
Many Americans have been led to believe that we have been targeted by Islamic extremist terrorists because they despise our “western way of life”. People may hate Americans because they think we all live like the Desperate Housewives, but no one is willing to strap a bomb to her child’s body in order to blow up hundreds of men, women and children, because of it. And, why are terrorists killing Muslims in their own country, whose lifestyles are similar?
The tens of millions of people who are hell-bent on destroying America's and other country's ways of life have another motivation. They believe that Allah and the Quran are the ultimate authority; and if there is anyone who does not believe the same (infidels), they need to be eliminated at any cost. This is their sincere belief (albeit sincerely wrong), and they are willing to die for it. It is called Jihad and for them it is a Holy war worth fighting.
We need to take them at their own words. The Islamists who assassinated Anwar el-Sadat decorated their jail cells with banners proclaiming "caliphate or death."
A biography of one of the most influential Islamic Clerics declares that his life "revolved around a single goal, namely the establishment of Allah's Rule on earth" and restoring the caliphate. Bin Laden spoke of bringing about "the pious caliphate." The current leader and “real brains” of Al-Qaeda, also dreams of re-establishing the caliphate. The President of Iran, whose country is currently very close to having a nuclear bomb, has made it clear that his goal is to establish a global Islamic caliphate. We may choose to disregard what millions claim is their ultimate goal. However, that will not change their intent to kill their enemies.
The USA was not founded on the principles of the Quran, but on the principles of the Judeo Christian Bible. It can be easy for all of us to hate our enemies, especially those that caused so much pain on 9/11/2001. If we follow the tenants of the Bible we are called to follow the most excellent way; to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us and stand for what is good. However, we can not do that until we wake up and acknowledge that we have millions of enemies who are driven to persecute us.
Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You're not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It's the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith.
